Value engineering

Value engineering aims to find the best balance between the cost, design, desired features, use, and life cycle of individual branded products. We recognise the importance of making good decisions prior to roll-out. This ensures long-term value and appropriate solutions without compromising brand intent or quality. Our approach results in significant savings and a shortened time-to-market.

Long term value

Value engineering is not just a design review or cost-cutting exercise. It is an organised effort that analyses the requirements of a branded product, from the perspective of both branding and practicality, in order to achieve the essential functions and protect brand intent at the lowest total costs over the brand’s lifespan. Ultimately the objective is to identify and eliminate any unnecessary and costly requirements. Value engineering can save you significant amounts of money both on the initial investment and in the years following implementation of the brand.

Value engineering process

Our value engineering process is a meticulous and systematic approach. During the conceptual and prototyping stages of the branding project our experienced and multi-disciplinary technical specialists review a relevant array of material choices, material finishes, production methods and – where applicable – illumination and installation techniques, as well as considering how branded products will be used and maintained in the future. This study can also include a comparative exercise relating to product cost for benchmarking purposes.

Following this, 3D computer models are created to visualise how a product can best be built. Prototypes are then produced to bring the product ‘to life’ and to allow validation and approval. The final outcomes of the value engineering process are approved prototypes, ‘ready-to-produce’ technical drawings and detailed material specifications for each (group of) branded product(s).
