Mediclinic has consolidated its three local brands under one name – Mediclinic; launched a new brand image and formulated a new brand identity in a step that recognises its strategy to build a global hospital business.
South-African based Mediclinic is the sixth largest private hospital group in the world, operating hospitals and clinics in South Africa, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates. Over the last decade the company acquired several hospital groups, both domestically and internationally.
To support further growth, Mediclinic decided to unite all its hospitals under one brand.“Our aspiration as a company is to become an international hospital group, not simply a group of hospitals in different countries,” says Dr Edwin Hertzog, chairman of the group since its formation in 1983.” A unified group model brings strength,” he says.
The branding was developed by UK based branding agency Landor. VIM Group was responsible for the implementation of the signage on the Mediclinic locations.
We developed the new Mediclinic ‘signage family’, including prototyping, value engineering and technical specifications. In addition, we were asked to lead the implementation at Mediclinic’s ten main facilities in South Africa, as well as to create its signage application guidelines, covering all Mediclinic’s exterior and interior signage and wayfinding.
Our signage application guidelines will support Mediclinic with the implementation of signage and wayfinding as part of its extensive refurbishment and development programme, ensuring a consistent brand experience for customers across hospitals in the various countries. The result is a positive and consistent new brand experience for visitors in and around its hospitals.
